A US bride had a happy ending thanks to Margo assisting a Ukrainian designer in need to create her wedding dress. What an incredible story I'm going to tell you! We all got so lucky to find each other in this big world, in incredibly difficult circumstances to create the most anticipated wedding dress. The three of us - a bride based in US, a bridal designer based in Ukraine and me the bridal designer dressmaker based in London UK. It's hard to believe sometimes it actually happened.
Resilience in Crisis: A Ukrainian Bridal Designer's Commitment Amidst War
During the Covid period, I was feeling bored, so I started my own online shop. Through this shop, I was contacted by an Ukrainian bridal designer, Catty Telle. It was at the onset of the Ukrainian war when people were fleeing the country to seek safety and protect their lives. I can't imagine the terror of being suddenly attacked and having to leave everything behind, with only the clothes on your back. In such horrific times, no one would blame a wedding designer for abandoning her commitments to her brides and fleeing. But that's not what happened. I received a message from Cathy, who, while escaping the war, was looking for a bridal designer abroad to fulfil her commitments. She was concerned about her bride in the US and apologized for not being able to take the finished dress with her at that time. I cried. I'm sure all three of us did. It clearly shows the character of the Ukrainian people.
Real Bride Megan was remarkable in this situation as well. She had already spent time collaborating with Catty online, going back and forth to design and create her dream wedding dress. However, a couple of months before her wedding, the unimaginable occurred. She discovered that there was a possibility she might not receive her dress on time. This news is a shock for any bride. While I can't fully express how Megan was feeling, I knew she was determined to work with us and trusted that we could resolve the situation successfully and swiftly.
As a fashion designer and dressmaker, I am extremely fortunate to be able to complete a dress in a very short time frame. This ability is due to my lifelong training and 25 years of experience in the bridal industry.
However, the ladies were unaware of this, so I am deeply thankful for their trust and very proud of all of us, especially Cathy Telle. Despite her personal challenges, she remained highly professional, providing me with all her drafts, patterns, and detailed instructions from fabric selection to stitching. In the end, it was a happy outcome!
